Collaborative Workshops
Woodlands High Project
This was my last university placement setting, working with children diagnosed with ASD and learning difficulties for 10 weeks.
This project aimed to improve socialization skills and confidence in the class through creativity.
Sessions were focused on encouraging team work and making connection through the understanding of each others emotions.
materials were chosen with appropriate sensory elements in mind.

Ty Canna project
This project was part of another university placement. Ty Canna is an out reach service for adults struggling with their mental health. I facilitated online creative wellbeing sessions for 10 weeks, these were not in-person due to the global pandemic at the time.
The aims for this project were to improve mood, increase sense of connection and share tips on managing mental health. participants here had limited materials at home and so activities were planned around using as much recycled materials as possible.
Participants were very involved in choosing the creative tasks, which successfully gave them a sense of control and independence.
Glyn Anwen Project
This was organised for my second year university placement. Glyn Anwen is an elderly residential and day service.Â
I facilitated 8 weekly workshops here, the activities I had planned were focussing on building a group connection and reducing loneliness.Â
There were themes such as gifting and Christmas tied into the activities also as it fitted with the time of year and the participants requests.Â
As the weeks went by the participants built up the confidence to work together on the final group piece. They decided to exhibit photos of the group on an abstract painted canvas as a way of personalising the space and celebrating one another.
Therapeutic Pom Pom Workshop
This Workshop was a single collaborative event that took place on the university of south wales treforrest campus for staff and students to attend in their free time.
The aim for this event was to help people relax and take some time for themselves. We decorated and advertised around the campus.
We provided all the necessary materials for making pom poms and included some inspirational quotes for people to attach and use as a bookmark for example.
We also walked around the campus during this event and handed out bags to take home with some materials and instructions for those who didn't have time to stop in for the event.Â
We had some great feedback from this workshop, it was a pleasure to facilitate.
Marion Centre project
This project was organised for my first year university placement, the Marion centre is a school for children aged 11-19 who have been diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. I co-facilitated 4 weekly workshops here.
Some of the aims for this project were to improve communication and confidence working within a group. We engaged the participants by asking them to help us design a puppet.
We added excitement to the workshops by using storytelling facilitation techniques and this successfully resulted in the children showing more confidence and being creative within a group setting, which is what they struggled with before hand.
The participants made the design decisions within activities for the puppet that we made which was based on the tale of Cinderella's ugly step sisters. Some of the materials used include foam, wooden sticks and silk. The final puppet was used in a Hijinx theatre show and now lives in the Marion centre school.
